So much patronizing

So much suffering
I know they mean well but the needles sting
The bone tests, the X-Rays, the MRI’s
The ripple in the world behind my eyes
Some give up hope, some will not try
All I have is your kindness and my head up high
Because you all stand by me with your loyalty
Sometimes the tears make that hard to see
My laughter came so easy a few years ago
Now I struggle with pain just to make it show
So make sure my heart is ready and this little boat is steady
I’ll brave the same storms I’ve stood to conquer already
I don’t want to lose the future or the magic in me
I’m as brave as they say and this will be
